UMUS (Uddipto Mohila Unnayan Sangstha) is a non-governmental organization working for Dalit women and children empowerment in Satkhira since 2003. UMUS is registered with the NGO Affairs Bureau (NGOAB) of Bangladesh.
• Our mission is to empower marginalized communities especially Dalit women by creating and strengthening community-based organizations where they can voice their concerns and claim their rights and entitlements; building capacity of local governments for responsible and pro-poor governance; advancing human rights and social justice; preventing violence against women and children; ensuring access to information; responding disaster management and climate change adaptation, ensuring decent toilet, good hygiene and improved water for all through social movement building and community engagement. • Capacity building of local goverments,thereby establishing responsible and pro-poor governance systems.
• To establish human rights and social juctice through their social movements by developing measures to prevent violence against women and children.
• Ensuring accessibility to information,thereby insuring accessibility of services provided by public and private institutions to the disadvantaged population.
• Our vision is a just and inclusive society where women, children, and marginalized communities especially Dalit women are empowered through economic, social, political, and human development to realize their rights and entitlements with dignity.
