Uddipto Mohila Unnayan Sangstha has been actively working for the development of women since ancient times, as women have always played an immense role in the progress of civilization. Women have been symbols of nature, compassion, and beauty, and have also played a significant role in the wars of history. Furthermore, women have been at the forefront in establishing peace in the world. In this world, women and men equally share the responsibility of sustaining family, ensuring the continuation of lineage, and enhancing human qualities for creating a beautiful and fulfilling life.
Since the beginning of human civilization, women have played important roles in society, family, and nation-building. At the global level, the empowerment of women socially, politically, and economically is being given significant attention. However, it is disheartening to see that, despite these contributions, women are often oppressed, humiliated, and deprived of their rights. This situation is worse for Dalit women, who face social exclusion and harsh treatment.
In the 21st century, while the world celebrates great achievements like conquering new planets and traveling across the universe, Dalit women are still struggling to fulfill their daily responsibilities of caring for their husbands, children, and homes. These women live in a world filled with family hatred, oppression, and social and economic discrimination. They start life with an unequal footing, facing exclusion from food, play, education, and even basic human rights. Dalit women are subjected to exploitation, rape, and severe violence, but they have accepted this as their fate. As a result, they remain unaware of their rights and are deprived of education, healthcare, and access to governmental and non-governmental services.
Since 2003, Uddipto Mohila Unnayan Sangstha has been working tirelessly to fight for the rights of Dalit and indigenous women, and we express our heartfelt gratitude to those who have supported and guided us in this work.
